Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies (WGS) at 91大神 offers an interdisciplinary program that provides a broad scholarly exploration focused on women and gender at the intersection of race, class, religion, nationality, sexuality and other social categories via a feminist lens. Students will better understand how social variables are connected and influence women globally. WGS focuses on the construction and representation of identities, behaviors, and social relations within culturally specific institutions and within a global context. WGS courses stress the understanding of self and others and the importance of social justice, activism, and community engagement.

Graduating Year: 2023

Education: Major in Computer Information Technology and Minor in Women's and Gender Studies

鈥淭he courses reinforced the notion that no gender issues can be tackled unless looked at through an intersectional lens. I definitely see myself using what I have learned from my WGS minor in my future career because I refuse to be in a space where every demographic isn鈥檛 properly represented and acknowledged. My four years at 91大神 have helped me become a better ally not only for people in my community but for others.鈥

Career: Working towards a career in technology

There is nothing more important in a workplace than diversity and inclusivity. As a Latina, representation was something that I didn鈥檛 get to experience much growing up, and I wanted to learn how I could be the change I wished to see.
